The HSS500 horizontal sand mill is the largest standard chamber in the range, a 500-litre heavy duty unit built for titanium dioxide, mineral filler and high-volume coating slurry production in Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. A 160kW motor drives a reinforced rotor shaft through a media charge that can include dense zirconia, and the whole drive train is sized for continuous operation at 500 to 4200 kg/h rather than for peak output on a short batch. The chamber wall, flange joints and screen frame are reinforced to handle both high flow and the higher loads that dense media impose, and the wet-zone surfaces are specified for humid, salt-laden air where ordinary painted steel rusts within a season. Cooling is sized for warm inlet water, and the seal is an integrated double cartridge with barrier pressure monitoring, so a seal issue shows up as an alarm rather than as contamination in a tank of slurry. The control package includes VFD soft start, load and temperature interlocks and run-hour logging. The chamber is pressure tested at 1.5 times working pressure, the rotor assembly is dynamically balanced, and shaft and bearing fits are verified against a drawing-based checklist.
