The HSS280 horizontal sand mill is a 280-litre unit specified for plants that cannot tolerate metal pickup in the product: ceramic ink for tile decoration, electronic paste, high-purity pigment and specialty coating producers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The chamber, rotor and screen are available with ceramic or polyurethane lining, and the media are zirconia, so the only surfaces the product touches are non-metallic. A 110kW motor drives the rotor at a controlled tip speed, and the discharge gap is set with a micrometer-adjusted ring so that media retention stays consistent even after wear. Output reaches 320 to 2600 kg/h, sufficient for a continuous decoration line or a multi-tank circulation loop. Electricals are built for 460V / 60Hz with UL-listed components on request, and the instrumentation can connect to a line control system so that gap position, chamber temperature and run hours are logged for quality records. In the workshop it runs as a horizontal agitator bead mill, and every sand mill duty from pre-dispersion to fine grinding passes through the same closed chamber.
Key Features- Ceramic Wetted Path: ceramic or polyurethane lining on chamber, rotor and screen keeps iron, chromium and nickel out of the product, with lining certificates supplied for qualification
- Precision Gap Control: a micrometer-adjusted discharge ring holds the media retention gap to a set value, so fineness stays stable as parts wear instead of drifting batch to batch
- 460V / 60Hz Build: electricals are prepared for North American supply with UL-listed components on request, avoiding site rework after delivery
- Zirconia Media Compatibility: the chamber and screen are designed around 0.3-1.2 mm zirconia media for fine ceramic ink and electronic paste work
- Line Data Logging: gap position, chamber temperature, rotor speed and run hours can be exported to the plant control system for batch traceability
- Solvent Recovery Ready: the closed chamber and sealed piping arrangement support connection to a solvent recovery unit where ink systems require it

North American producers use the HSS280 horizontal sand mill for ceramic ink used in tile and sanitaryware decoration, electronic and thick-film paste, high-purity pigment dispersion and specialty coating where metal contamination causes colour shift or electrical failure. The mill is normally installed in a circulation loop with a temperature-controlled tank, and the metal-free wetted path is verified through incoming material certificates and, where requested, third-party analysis of the first production batch. Because ceramic ink formulations are sensitive to both particle size and contamination, plants typically lock the discharge gap setting and log it with each batch record, and they schedule lining inspection at fixed intervals rather than waiting for a fineness deviation to appear.
Packaging & Quality AssuranceEvery HSS280 horizontal sand mill is assembled in an ISO 9001:2015 certified workshop and tested for 72 hours on a reference ceramic ink, with vibration, bearing temperature, seal leakage, gap position and outlet fineness recorded in a shipment report. Chambers are pressure tested, rotors are balanced, and ceramic linings are inspected for thickness, bonding and surface finish before assembly. Documentation includes electrical schematics, cooling and flush diagrams, an English operation and maintenance manual, a spare-part list, lining and material certificates and, where required, component listings to support the customer's UL file. The machine carries a 12-month warranty excluding media and wear parts, wear parts remain available for ten years, and commissioning support covers gap setting, media charging, first-batch fineness validation and operator training.
